Buyers return to the cheese aisle
Closing assessment from the Department of Cultured Assets. Published at 20:00 UTC.
CT30 3,199.34 ▲ 2.11%
Buyers were present in size and in good humour. The Cheddar 30 closed up 2.11% at 3,199.34. Brie led the board with a gain of 8.55%, while Smoked cheddar fell 5.30% and finished the session at 171.19 curds.
The 11:00 cellar inspection gave soft holdings a clean bill of health, and the inspectors stayed for a second plate. At 15:00 the fondue desk lowered its temperature target, a decision the committee described as firm but yielding. Soft finished as the strongest sector at +3.66%, with fresh the weakest at -1.06%. The cracker supply report at 17:30 lifted processed names into the close.
We expect volatility to persist while the board debates the definition of a slice. We continue to rate the broad board Melt and remain constructive on Brie. Cracker coverage is adequate. The strategic biscuit reserve was not touched.
