Buyers return to the cheese aisle

Closing assessment from the Department of Cultured Assets. Published at 20:00 UTC.

CT30 3,059.11 ▲ 0.63%

Demand held up across most of the board. The Cheddar 30 closed up 0.63% at 3,059.11. Feta led the board with a gain of 6.52%, while Limburger fell 6.78% and finished the session at 93.76 curds.

The 11:00 cellar inspection gave hard holdings a clean bill of health, and the inspectors stayed for a second plate. At 15:00 the fondue desk lowered its temperature target, a decision the committee described as appropriately aged. Fresh finished as the strongest sector at +4.94%, with washed-rind the weakest at -2.65%. The mould audit at 17:30 weighed on blue names into the close.

Positioning looks crowded in the soft names, which tend to spread when pressed. We continue to rate the broad board Melt and remain cautious on Limburger. Cracker coverage is adequate. The strategic biscuit reserve was not touched.
